    It's Never done!

    Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 1:19 AM

So for the most part hunting season is over, but you can still thin out some predators.  Or while you are cutting firewood you can make brush piles for what's left of the rabbit population.  You don't have to burn them all!

Hiking your deer hunting woods now will give you a better idea of where to find the deer after opening day next year and you might find some monster sheds.  Also it might give you the heads up of where the turkeys are going to be in a couple of months.

Keep practicing with your weapons of choice.  Putting them up and knocking the dust off of them the weekend before season is a sure recipe for disaster.  I belong to a few different muzzle loading clubs, they all have a monthly shoot.  It's great fun for the whole family and it helps me make those tuff shots when that might be all i get for the season.

So it's Never done!  Keep moving, yeah and have fun!

    Unite

    Monday, January 16, 2012, 1:38 AM

Hello friends, conservationists, animal lovers and gun owners....  Hope all is well!!

We are at a critical time in history, we need to Unite!!
I'm hearing some people grumbling about the NRA, because some guy from Texas is on the board and he thinks the only people that need guns with a capacity of more than six shots are the military or police...Since he feels that way He should not own such weapons, but leave the rest of us out of it!!  The NRA is put in a tough spot there because he was voted on to the board, so maybe he should be voted off this year?

Like i said,"we need to Unite'!! Not be divided....I remember the big stink the primitive/purists/longbow hunters put up when compound bows started catching on....Then they really hit the roof when crossbows came into use!  lol....

Well if you practice and become a good shot with that weapon and exercise control to only take sensible shots that will result in clean, quick kills, that's what is important!
Not if your neighbor has a better edge than you, especially when you could choose to hunt with the same weapon....  Quit being childish!

They have made more weapons legal to hunt deer with here in my state and i have tried them all, just for the experience....More Freedom, yea!!
So let's stop this division amongst us...Some are joing GOA/gunowners of america....I don't know much about them, but they should be ashamed of themselves for not joing the NRA and working on the problems that they have with them, instead of grabbing their toys and going home....Our numbers are just too low and the stakes (the 2nd amendment) are just too high!!

So you like to shoot/hunt with certain weapons, Awesome!!  Please keep a open mind when it comes to what the rest of us like, shootin is still shootin!

Thanks for reading this and please join the NRA, we need their help...
Keep yer powder dry, Curdog..  ;)

    2011 doe still hunt

    Tuesday, December 6, 2011, 2:34 AM

    Howdy all!!

Well this year has been too warm and dry, until yesterday....I went with my cousin Terry and he said the place has had a lot of hunting pressure....Seems like all the places i go anymore are over hunted.....

Well i took a spot behind a blow down over looking a place the deer cross a lane...I was able to sit there in the rain and the wind for about an hour before it was time to stretch my legs...

I had a great day with the gusting wind in my favor, the good lord even took pity on me and held back the rain....I walked about two hours and fully expected to jump or totally surprise a deer at any minute, with all the fresh tracks in front of me....Hey, it's good to think positive you know!  lol....

So just like a play out of the official crazy goat/big buck hand book, the big wide 8pt jumps over the fence and runs across the piece of property I don't have permission to hunt....  Uhg!     Well at least i was close and saw a beautiful animal.....So i started pushing this fella towards my cousin (he's a nice guy).... I jumped him twice more, pushed him about two miles almost to my cousin.....

I jumped another deer that could have just stayed bedded in the brush pile, it was over a hundred and fifty yards away in a brushy woods and my scent wasn't even blowing to it!!??   Told ya these deer are freaked out....

So the last time i jumped the big boy i had been still hunting for five hours and i was done!!  He didn't give me a chance, wind still in my face.....I sat down on a log defeated and called Terry....."Yeah man i'm done....These deer are just too spooked, big boy just took off again.....Oh, i have a shot. Hold on"......Boom!!
"Hey i got a deer, i got to go....I'll call you back"!!

So apparently if the wind is in your face and you sit down and start talking on your iphone, a big doe will try and evesdrop.....LOL....

A 70 yard neck shot, with my 50. cal. T/C Renegade percussion, 60 grains of 3f Goex under a patched round ball.....I win muzzle loader shoots with that gun a lot!!

Hopefully next week i'll get to go again....
Good luck and keep yer powder dry!!
